One of our first big group outings was a night at the wrestling—and what a night it was! The participants deserve plenty of credit for getting this adventure started. They suggested the outing, told me about the event and sent through ticket links, dates and times. I helped purchase the tickets and bring everyone together, with a little organisation behind the scenes to make sure the evening ran smoothly.

Our group included people of different ages and abilities, and everyone had an absolute blast. What stood out most was how naturally everyone included each other in conversations, decisions and activities throughout the night. The participants were an absolute joy to spend time with, and I was proud of the way they supported one another.

The event itself was spectacular. Seeing the action live gave me a whole new appreciation for the athleticism, skill and courage involved in wrestling. The energy was incredible, and the excitement was shared right across our group.

After the event, everyone had the opportunity to meet the wrestlers, ask for autographs and have photos taken with their favourites. The participants approached them with enthusiasm and respect, conducting themselves in a way they should be proud of. Look closely at our group photo and you might even spot one of the wrestlers!

We’ve enjoyed plenty of other big outings, including the Royal Adelaide Show, football games and the Fringe Festival, but this night remains a standout. Everyone got along like a house on fire, worked together and came away with great memories. It was a brilliant example of what can happen when participants share their interests and help turn an idea into an experience we can all enjoy.
